We’re reading a book about animals!
Me: What animal is this?
Ayub & Sulaiman: DOG!
Me: Good job. What about this one?
Ayub & Sulaiman: ELEPHANT!
Me: Such clever babies. This one?
Sulaiman: FOX!
Ayub: No! Cannot say that! That’s a bad word! Don’t say that Sulaiman!
Me: Why Ayub? Sulaiman is correct. It’s a fox.
Ayub: No Mama. That’s bad word. (Whispers) Cannot say like “what the fox…” It’s naaaauuuughty…
Me: Oh! Yes. That’s bad. But. Hmmm…
Sulaiman: FOX!
Ayub: NO NO That’s BAD word! Sulaiman don’t say that word!
Me: Wait wait. Fox is an animal. It’s ok to say fox. Fox is not a bad word, ok Ayub?
Ayub: (Whispers) Fox. Is not bad?
Me: No. Fox is an animal. This animal is a fox (I point to the picture in the book). But you cannot say (whisper) “what the fox.” That’s bad. Ok?
Sulaiman: (Scream-singing) What does the fox say?!
Ayub: NO SULAIMAN! That’s so naughty! Don’t say that!
